Your child's interests will be folded into the hard work of therapy— whether that means playing board games, creating videos, or having a Nerf gun war!

Did you know that reading and writing skills are based on language development?

Our structured reading interventions go beyond dyslexia tutoring to build higher-level literacy skills. With the right support, every child can read!

Executive Function Skills Therapy

Planning, organizing, focusing, and self-regulation are key skills for success in school and life.

We take time to identify strategies that work for each individual child, and help them gain independence in their daily tasks.

Whether they need support with speech sounds, comprehension skills, or verbal expression, we will empower them to communicate with confidence.

Meet Your Speech Therapist

Kellie Kirkpatrick, M.S., CCC-SLP, speech therapist and learning specialist at Kirkpatrick Speech, Language, & Learning in Burlington, NC

Kellie Kirkpatrick, M.S., CCC-SLP

Speech-Language Pathologist & Learning Specialist

I am a passionate speech-language pathologist with over 27 years of experience working with children and teens. I draw from my diverse background as a speech therapist, a school administrator, and a learning specialist to meet students wherever they are and help them build a strong foundation for success in school and life.

I started Kirkpatrick Speech, Language, and Learning in order to show all students that they can speak, read, write, and thrive academically.

I embrace each student's originality, help them discover the unique way their mind works, and give them the tailored support they need to meet their goals quickly. There is no need to "wait and see" if a child will fail; instead, I work proactively to address learning challenges as they arise. My goal is to preserve each student's love of learning and give them the tools they need to listen, speak, read, and write with confidence!

When a family enlists my services, I become part of their team.  Not only do I provide speech therapy, but I also help them advocate for their child's education and connect them to resources in the community. I respect parents as the experts on their child, and I enjoy learning about each student's life, interests, and family traditions.

There are no adequate words to express our immense gratitude for the encouragement, grace, and time you have gifted our daughter. It brings tears to my eyes to see how much impact one year has made.  She is such a blossoming flower now!
